When Death Passed By Our Door
My cozy space to think out loud and make sense of life in real time. I explore psychology, faith, emotions, identity and everything in between. Not as an expert, but as a girl trying to figure it all out with honesty. If you're tired of vague advice and surface level healing. You're at the right place ♡. If you love journaling, deep talks and figuring life out slowly, you'll feel right at home here 🏡💕
Have you ever noticed how beautiful girls get more attention and more advantages than regular looking girls?
We’ve all seen it happen, in school, at work, online, even in relationships,
yet no one talks about it out loud because no one wants to seem like a hater.
But today, I’m done sugarcoating.
I’m sharing my unfiltered thoughts on how pretty privilege exists and why we need to stop pretending it doesn’t.
Let’s be real: pretty privilege is everywhere.
Denying it is like pretending water isn’t wet.
Beautiful people automatically gain social advantages.
They’re treated better in public, offered more opportunities in the media and workforce, and attract relationships without lifting a finger.
They can literally get away with things others would be punished for.....yes, even crime sometimes.
They’re often assumed to be kind, smart, trustworthy,
just because they’re pretty.
That’s not just bias; that’s a whole psychological phenomenon called the halo effect.
And you see it everywhere. Just scroll through social media,
nearly every influencer is conventionally attractive.
Even AI generated photos are biased.
They churn out flawless, symmetrical, gorgeous faces never average, never real.
What does that do to the rest of us?
It creates pressure.
It breeds insecurity.
It makes you feel like you’re not enough just because you’re not walking around with supermodel features.
People start finding ways to "fix themselves,"
even though let’s be honest there was nothing wrong with them in the first place.
Average looking people are constantly trying to prove their worth. Meanwhile, pretty people don’t have to.
They're already believed to be competent, nice, and capable — without even speaking.
That’s the privilege. That’s the power. That’s the truth.
But (and yes, there’s a big BUT)... pretty privilege comes with a price too.
Pretty people often get treated like trophies,
not full human beings. People assume they don’t have problems because, “You’re too pretty to be sad.”
They face a massive wave of hate, jealousy, objectification, and unwanted attention especially online.
And here's the worst part: their worth becomes tied to their appearance.
If that beauty ever fades (and let’s face it, it eventually will), society is quick to discard them.
They go from adored to ignored — all because they’re no longer “aesthetically valuable.”
It’s why so many people are going to extremes to stay young, stay hot, stay relevant.
Because in this world, beauty equals worth and that’s a terrifying standard to live by.
🎀So, what do you think?
🎀Do you believe pretty privilege is real?
🎀Is it helping some and hurting others silently?
